Awesome! Art and voice acting is superb, and an intriguing plot. I was waiting for you to upload it on Newgrounds so I could rate it. I'm looking forward for the next one! Great work!
Good work on the animation. The mixture and changes of the art style throughout the episode is a nice touch, and it mantains the attention of the viewer. Sadly, that won't make your show stick out from the rest, what would be a pity, since I would love to see this series developing it's own fandom.
My main problem is with the writing and the music. The characters are way too cliché, so are their reactions, it looks like you're plagiarising every anime ever. Not that I have a problem, and if it's what you want to do go ahead, but it makes the characters lose appeal, in my opinion. The dialogues, well, the aforementioned statement it's applicable. All in all, I think you should put more personality into the characters and the dialogues. You already have your own style in the art section, why not give it a go on the writing.
I like how you have envisioned it as a animated comic, we don't see a lot of that nowadays (even less taking into account you are doing this pretty much on your own).
On the other hand, I think you went too far on using videogame songs. Even though the music is very good, and all of us veiwers recognize many (or all) of the tracks, it gives away the opportunity to feel that we are watching something new. It can be
In conclusion, seems promising, and I'm looking forward to chapter 2. Very keen on the art, not so much on the writing, and would love to hear music that I haven't heard before next time.
Good job and good luck!
PD: I apologize if something sounds weird or I have commited some kind of mistake, English is not my first language.
I.. I wasn't expecting that. I mean, the happy ending was obvious, but it happened something that changed the way I perceived this animation completely. It is quite long, so I'll try to explain it the best that I can with my sometimes faulty english:
The animation does not rely on fast movements or details: its aproach with the viewer is justified by its originality. You have a unique style, and in this case it fits the story and the whole concept of the video perfectly. Despite the story being a bit typical, again, made sense as the background for the facts. And the music fits perfectly (although that cut before the end took me by surprise, it was justified by the change of colors and music)
However, it was not that what I realised. You see, you entwine very well the two aspects that run our lives: ourselves and themselves. I, and the ones that are not me. The facts start with the social aspects, pointing out the dangers of being alone, but end with facts about you as a person. Because the animation works like a clock: in that touching ending there is no movement, and so we focus all our attention at the fact: your life is for you. You are amazing. Anybody can tell you that, but how you tell it is what reaches your soul.
I started watching this and focusing in everything at the same time, but as I explained earlier, you made me focus on that. Suddenly, it all made much more sense. Because when you are at night looking at the stars, and think: we are only dust compared to the vastness of the universe... Then you can say: but my brain is the most complex object in the known universe. All I live, my life... is for me. Something that i did not make, I did not ask for this life, yet I am here, and all that has happened, it is happening or will happen it's a present, only for me. Nobody can feel exactly the same I feel, or think my thoughts. You are amazing, I am amazing, we all are, and being aware of it is incredible. That is why you pulled it off so well: without knowing it, the whole piece (because I can refer to this animation as a piece of art) prepares you to accept it, and there is nothing you can do. The sweet story loses importance compared to the fact that your life is for you.
The "you are amazing" part was not what made me write this review, it was everything before that. I am not amazing, but I can try, and maybe someone will tell it to me in the future, and it will be because I am living, and that's amazing. I couldn't stop smiling when I finished watching it. I only review when I like something a lot, because I tend to be redundant and write too much, but your work deserved it.
You are amazing. Thank you.
Wow wow wow great review dude.
